The Opperman Report

THE OFFICIAL HOME OF THE OPPERMAN REPORT

Starting March 17, 2017 a group of organizers, volunteers, businesses and musicians are coming together to set TWO new Guinness World Records - the Longest Concert by Multiple Artists and the Longest Live Streamed Event.  It's all happening in Stouffville, Ontario, about an hour north of what is known as the 'centre of the universe', Toronto, Canada.

The attempt will take place 24 hours a day for 16 days at the Earl of Whitchurch Pub in Stouffville.  Over 400 musical acts will participate.  Monies from each day's performances will be donated to 16 separate charities, benefiting hospitals, mental health facilities, hospices and more.

Your erstwhile webmaster here will be participating with his band STRAWMAN - we'll be taking the stage on Friday March 31st at 9pm - that's Day 14, if you want to join the Facebook event - link below.

If you're in the Toronto/Stouffville area I hope you'll come to enjoy some great music and support this incredible event.  For those who can't make it the event is of course being live streamed - probably the best sounding livestream ever!

Thanks Ed for helping share this once in a lifetime endeavor!!!

INTERESTING NOTES ABOUT THE RULES

While everyone wants to have fun playing and watching/listening to music, the Guinness people have instituted rules that need to be taken seriously for this record to be achieved.  Here's a rundown!

  1. ONLY 5 minutes between artists.
  2. No more than 30 seconds in between songs!
  3. No song can be repeated within 4 hours - this one's a real headache for organizers.  400 setlists to review!!!
  4. There must always be 10 audience members in the venue at all times - employees and organizers do not count.  And no sleeping - those 10 people need to be awake, even at 3 am on a Tuesday!
  5. Every minute of the attempt must be recorded from multiple angles.  That's over 400 hours!
